Hastings County Economic Development & Tourism Be The One - Vacant Storefront Campaign in Centre Hastings

Downtown Madoc is a bit more colourful with two new window wraps! The Hastings County Economic and Tourism Development department has worked with local building owners to wrap their vacant storefronts in colourful and inspiring designs to give potential business owners a glimpse into what could be in each location and encourage them to "Be The One" to make it happen and invest in our downtown.

The project also makes it easier for business owners to get in contact with building owners or County Economic Development staff to learn more about each location.

Hastings County Economic Development & Tourism has launched their vacant storefront campaign, with two locations in Centre Hastings one located at 66 St. Lawrence Street, West and the second at 36 Durham Street, South in downtown Madoc with more locations coming soon across Hastings County.

The goal is to inspire entrepreneurs to “Be The One” to invest and open businesses in downtown cores by showcasing the potential of vacant businesses by providing a window to what could be in each location.

The campaign will help clean up the appearance of vacant storefronts in downtown cores and make them more appealing for potential business investment.

The campaign is also designed to make it easy for entrepreneurs and potential business investors to gain information on the available storefronts, be connected with the property owners or managers, and receive free and confidential business coaching from the Hastings County Small Business Coordinator if needed.

In creating the concept and design for the vacant storefronts campaign, the Hastings County Economic Development & Tourism team worked with a local and award-winning illustrator to create the illustrations used for the storefronts based on businesses that could be a good potential fit for in each downtown and storefront they will be displayed.

The campaign also features a digital component to attract potential entrepreneurs and investors locally and regionally and could be expanded to accommodate more vacant storefronts in the future.
