Keeping Fire Hydrants Clear This Winter

With winter weather continuing, residents are reminded that clearing snow from fire hydrants helps firefighters during emergencies, when quick access can make all the difference.

Fire hydrants can become hidden after snowfalls or snowplowing. Keeping a clear space of approximately 1 metre (3 feet) around hydrants ensures they remain visible and accessible for emergency crews.

If a hydrant is located near your home or business, please take a moment to clear it when shovelling snow. This simple act helps support our firefighters and contributes to the safety of our entire community.
