No Open Air Burning – Centre Hastings Fire Department

The fire season in Centre Hastings runs from April 1 to October 31.

Burning Regulations:

  • No burning of brush, grass, or similar materials is allowed between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
  • You may burn brush and leaves without a permit between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m., unless a burning ban is in place.

Exceptions:
Burning is allowed under the following conditions:
(a) If the fire is used exclusively for cooking or warmth.
(b) If the fire is no larger than 1 metre by 1 metre and is attended at all times by someone 19 years or older.
(c) If the fire is contained within a metal container and covered by metal mesh (less than ¼ inch) or screening to prevent sparks from escaping.

Additional Information:

  • The public will be notified if burning restrictions are put in place before April 1.
  • Failure to comply with these regulations may result in fines and costs for fire department response.
  • Burning hazardous or toxic materials is strictly prohibited at all times.
