Open Air Burning Restrictions Begin April 1 – Centre Hastings Fire Department
Fire season in Centre Hastings runs annually from April 1 to October 31. Residents are reminded to follow all burning regulations to help protect our community and prevent wildfires.
Burning Regulations
- No burning is permitted between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. (brush, grass, or similar materials).
- Burning of brush and leaves is allowed between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m, unless a fire ban is in effect.
Exceptions
Burning is permitted at any time under the following conditions:
- Fires used exclusively for cooking or warmth.
- Fires no larger than 1 metre by 1 metre, attended at all times by a person 19 years of age or older.
- Fires that are fully contained in a metal container and covered with metal mesh or screening (less than ¼ inch) to prevent sparks from escaping.
Important Information
- The public will be notified if burning restrictions are in place prior to April 1.
- Failure to comply with these regulations may result in fines and charges for fire department response.
- Burning of hazardous or toxic materials is strictly prohibited at all times.
