PRECAUTIONARY BOIL WATER ADVISORY FOR THOSE CONNECTED TO THE MUNICIPAL DRINKING WATER SUPPLY IN THE VILLAGE OF MADOC

PRESS RELEASE - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Municipality of Centre Hastings water supply system recently required an emergency repair. The repair has been completed and was successful. After a repair has been completed water testing is required. While we wait for the results of the water samples a PRECAUTIONARY boil water advisory has been issued. This was not mandated by the Health Unit however the operating authority recommended a precautionary advisory be put in place until the samples are returned. Drinking water continues to be treated and disinfected consistent with everyday operations.

After an emergency repair, water sample tests are required before turning the pumps back on to produce water. Ministry standards require two consecutive lab water sample tests before turning the pumps back on to produce water. While the repair was successful, water consumption in the system resulted in the water storage tower reaching a low level that required the pumps be turned back on before receiving the results of the water sample tests back from the lab.

“The boil water advisory is precautionary, and we kindly ask for your patience and understanding while we await the results from the lab.” stated Mayor Deline, “we expect lab results by mid-day Saturday September 21st 2024, and expect a return to normal operations shortly thereafter.”
