Public Notice: Deposit of Snow On Roadways

We wish to bring to your attention Section 181 of the Highway Traffic Act which clearly states:

“No person shall deposit snow or ice on a roadway without permission to do so from the Ministry or the road authority responsible for the maintenance of the road.”

Please, in the future, refrain from blowing snow or having snow brought onto the roadway during snow clearing as this can create a very dangerous situation for the travelling public.

Enforcement of the Highway Traffic Act is the responsibility of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) who will be notified if this problem continues to occur.
