Canada Day is a nationwide celebration and a long-standing tradition in Centre Hastings. Each year, the Municipality of Centre Hastings hosts one of the largest events of the year within the village of Madoc. The main event for Canada Day is hosted at Centre Hastings Park (24 Seymour Street, Madoc). but also throughout Centre Hastings.
Canada Day is supported by its residents, community members, service groups, and volunteers, making this one of the year's biggest celebrations! Canada Day has a variety of events that takes place throughout the day and evening! A wide variety of kid's games, live entertainment with face painting and balloon artists, live music, and end finally with fireworks on Moira Lake.
Our events program has been designed to safely connect us as friends, neighbors, and Canadians this July.

Canada Day is about coming together as a community, and we’re excited to offer a variety of interactive experiences throughout the day for all ages to enjoy!

All Together, Canada – Centre Hastings Celebration This Canada Day (July 1st), our community is joining a powerful nationwide moment of unity—All Together, Canada.
The nationwide “O Canada” singing event invites Canadians from coast to coast to coast to sing our national anthem at the exact same moment—celebrating our unity, pride, and shared identity.
Join us in Centre Hastings: Hosted by St. Peter’s Presbyterian Church Choir
Location: Centre Hastings Park (on the grass beside the stenciled Canada flag)
Time: 1:00 p.m. (Eastern Time).
Bring your family, friends, and neighbours as we gather in song—whether you’ve called Canada home your whole life or are newly arrived, this moment is for everyone.
Let’s stand together and sing “O Canada” loud and proud, in harmony with communities across the country.

Shannon and Cliff have been playing together since 2021. They use cool tech to create a huge Full Band Sound that you have to hear to believe! ![]()

- Timing: Fireworks will begin at dusk.
- Vantage Point: The boat launch offers the clearest, unobstructed views of the performance.

Design: Fireworks launch from the opposite shore, illuminating over the lake while maintaining a safe distance from spectators.
Canada Day Itinerary Breakdown 2026

- Support Local: Shop at your favorite downtown spots and local businesses.
- Festive Sights: Take a stroll through the beautifully decorated Village Square.
- Fun for Kids (11:00 AM – 3:00 PM): Enjoy games, activities, face painting by Carlotta, and balloon animals with Jen The Balloonist.
- Community Booths (11:00 AM – 3:00 PM): Meet the Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre, practice fire safety with the Fire Department, and make a Beaver Craft with the Madoc Public Library.
- Christmas in July (11:00 AM – 3:00 PM): Meet Summer Santa at the B.I.T. Tent at 12:00 PM and try the putting green!
- Art Show & Exhibit (11:00 AM – 4:00 PM): Walk through a showcase of talented local creators.
- Food & Entertainment: Grab lunch at the Lions Club or Legion BBQ (11:00 AM – 6:00 PM). Watch Sam from Farfetched Entertainment, the Tyrannosaurus Pets Wild Zoo Show (1:00 PM – 2:00 PM), and Randy The Magicman (2:30 PM – 3:15 PM).
- Anthem & The Giant Maple Leaf (12:00 PM – 12:30 PM): Sing along with the Sonic Youth Project. Right after at 12:30 PM, wear your best Canada Day red and help us create a massive Human Maple Leaf!
- Live Music Concerts: Enjoy acoustic covers by Deep Roots (2:00 PM – 4:00 PM), Sonic Youth Projects (4:00 PM – 4:30 PM), and classic rock from the Mad Hatter Band (6:00 PM – 9:00 PM).
- Food Truck On-Site: Open from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
- Lighted Boat Parade: Watch the glowing boats drift across the water just before dusk.
- Fireworks at Dusk: Catch the massive display over the water! (Rain date: Saturday, July 4th)

Celebrate Canada Day in a truly unforgettable way—right on the water! The Moira Lake Property Owners Association invites you to take part in the annual Lighted Boat Parade, a cherished community tradition filled with creativity, and spectacular evening views.
🚤 Get involved: Decorate your boat with lights, flags, and Canada Day flair, then join fellow boaters for a glowing parade across Moira Lake. Whether you’re participating or watching from shore, it’s an event you won’t want to miss!

Heading to Moira Lake for the big fireworks show? Leave the car behind! Thanks to the amazing team at Switzer-CARTY Transportation, the Switzer-Carty Shuttle is providing FREE rides so you have the opportunity to attend stress-free.
Shuttle Details:
- Pick-Up Location: Centre Hastings Park (24 Seymour Street, Madoc).
- Departure Times: 8:30 PM and 8:50 PM (Heading to Moira Lake Boat Launch).
- Return Trip: The Switzer Shuttle will bring you right back to the park immediately following the fireworks.
Skip the Traffic: Ride the Switzer-Carty Canada Day Firework Shuttle!
Important Info:
- Where to Park: Park your vehicle at the designated Centre Hastings Park downtown parking lots before boarding.
- Sign-In Required: All passengers must sign in before boarding the bus.
- Wear Your Red: Don't forget to pack your lawn chairs and wear your Canada Day red.
