St Lawrence Street and Durham Street Reconstruction

We are pleased to inform you that Cobourg Development Services Ltd. (CDS) has been awarded the contract to conduct important infrastructure improvements in our community. This project involves the replacement of the storm sewer, sanitary sewer, watermain, concrete curbs, sidewalks, and asphalt paving. The project includes sections of Durham Street North, Durham Street South, St Lawrence Street West, and St Lawrence Street East. Please see the below Project Map.

2025 Work is scheduled to begin the week of April 14th, with an expected interim completion date of November 30th.

2026 Work is schedule to begin May 1st, with an expected Project Completion on October 30th.

CDS and the Municipality is committed to ensuring this project is conducted with minimal disruption to residents and businesses, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation throughout this process.

Street Access:

Local traffic will be maintained throughout the construction period; however, access may be temporarily restricted or reduced to single lanes during certain activities. Clear instructions about access will be provided through signage or directly communicated by the CDS team to ensure smooth navigation during the construction process.

Davidson Street to Wellington Street

Crews will be conducting water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure

upgrades along this corridor.

Stormwater Construction: St. Lawrence West

Stormwater upgrades will be underway on St Lawrence West. Local access will be maintained with possible detours in place.

The intersection of St. Lawrence Street & Durham Street will be closed for construction.

It is anticipated to be from April 30- May 2. Please use alternate routes.

Monday – Tuesday

  • Concrete curb in-fills and sidewalk work (weather permitting)

  • Intersection traffic reduced to a single lane (Phase 1A / 1B configuration)

  • Start of Phase 1D: Work begins on Durham Street North

Wednesday – Thursday

  • Base asphalt paving on:

    • Durham Street South

    • St. Lawrence Street West

  • Full traffic detour in place (Phase 1C configuration)

Friday

  • Temporary line painting

  • Reopening of Durham South & St. Lawrence West to original traffic flow

All Week (Monday – Friday)

  • Ongoing work on St. Lawrence Street East (Phase 2A), progressing eastward
