Garbage Collection Information
Attention residents! This year’s statutory holidays will affect recycling collections on Wednesdays only:
Christmas Day (Dec 25) collection has been moved to Saturday, Dec 28.
New Year’s Day (Jan 1) collection has been moved to Saturday, Jan 4.
All other collection days remain the same.
Please ensure your Blue Boxes are properly sorted and placed at the curb by 7 AM on your scheduled day.

The Municipality of Centre Hastings is hosting a Hazardous & Electronic Waste Mobile Event on June 8, 2024 and September 14, 2024. This event will take place from 9am to 2pm at 26 Seymour Street East (Madoc Public Works parking lot).

Please Note: "Collection of recyclable and collectible household garbage will occur on all statutory holidays, with the exception of Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Any routes affected by Christmas Day and Boxing Day statutory holidays will be collected when regular service resumes the following week (By-Law 2023-16, S.4.0 g).”

These guidelines are being put in place as a precautionary measure to protect the health of collectors who handle thousands of receptables each week. Please protect your collector and take caution in handling your garbage.
- Place used tissues and napkins securely in a garbage bag.
- Wash your hands afterwards.
- Used liners for food waste should be placed securely inside the garbage bag.
- Do not place waste loosely in garbage containers
- If you are sick – place ANY item that has come into contact with your mouth, nose or eyes into a secure garbage bag.
- Bag all waste. Garbage bags must be tied tightly
- If you visit the landfill site please remember to practice social distancing and where possible refrain from making payments using cash.
Use of clear bags is mandatory – maximum of 2 clear bags per residential household. Blue "clear bags" are not accepted. The maximum weight per garbage bag needs to be no more than 40lb. The Christmas dates for this season are as follows:

If desired, new residents can receive one free short and one free tall blue box per household. Please visit the Municipal Office.
Damaged blue boxes can be replaced at no charge. Please bring your broken blue box to the Municipal Office to be exchanged!
NO HAZARDOUS WASTE should be deposited in your Blue Box. Household hazardous waste (HHW) includes products like used motor oil, leftover paint, and chemicals that can't go into the garbage or recycling bin. Our HHW program is managed through Quinte Waste Solutions and is free for residents.
Quinte Waste Solutions has a number of mobile events that service our Municipality and surrounding communities. Their main Depot is located in Belleville. Please visit their website for full details.
