Moira Lake

The Madoc Kiwanis Club has embarked on a major project to improve and enhance the property around the Boat Launch on Moira Lake.
A committee has been set up with participation from Madoc Kiwanis, Moira Lake Property Owners Association and residents of Centre Hastings.

In 1987 a group of Kiwanians headed by Don Smith applied for permits from the Ministry of Natural resources to put in a boat launch, small beach area, picnic area and washrooms. They later created a walleye spawning ground.

25 years have gone by and the Kiwanians of the day want to re-establish what the previous members created with some enhancements.

This ambitious project is planned over 4 years (2011-2014). Phases include new boat launch, new and improved parking lots, new washrooms, change rooms and new entrance. An added phase was the creation of the Moira Lake Educational Board Walk with the help of Ducks Unlimited (Madoc Chapter) and the Centre Hastings Secondary School along with many volunteers.

Centre Hastings Park

The Centre Hastings Park has 2 skate parks, a three deck mega-tower playground, a 4000sq ft splashpad, a full service canteen and ice cream shoppe, 2 sets of indoor washrooms, a rental/ service building for skate boards, BMX bikes and scooters, several shade structures and picnic areas and a Performing Arts Centre. The main skate park is 12,700 sq ft and includes a 6’ mini bowl with waterfall, a hip transfer angled ledge, various ledges, rails and double roller, and has a good mix of street and transition. The 3,500 sq ft Bunny pad has gentler obstacles and rolls for the beginner skater.

Only skateboards, in-line skates, BMX’s and scooters are permitted. Mountain bikes are not allowed on the pads.

Park hours are 7:00am to dusk. During the summer months we offer extended hours under the lights on Friday and Saturday evenings.

The park and canteens are staffed from mid-May until Thanksgiving weekend (mid- October) for maintenance, rentals and washrooms. We welcome families, businesses, school groups and area summer camps to contact us to reserve areas for parties and get-togethers.
